JoAnn DeWaele, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 14, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on February 19, 1936, JoAnn dedicated her life to her family and community, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and commitment.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her devoted husband, David DeWaele, who was her steadfast partner in life. She is also reunited with her cherished parents, Raymond and Josephine Stuermer, and her beloved daughter, Donna Rose, alongside her son, David (Brenda) DeWaele,
JoAnn’s spirit is carried forward by her loving children: Laura DeWaele, JoAnn (Johnny) Franzen, Lynda (Kenny) Villwock, Gregg (Keri) DeWaele, and Karla (Mike) Kurek. Her family was the heart of her existence, and she took immense joy in watching them flourish. JoAnn was also a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, who brought boundless joy into her life: Dawn, Christine, Keith, Michael, Cindy, David, John, Miles, Donna, Gwenyth, Julia, and Michael. The legacy of love continues with her great-grandchildren: Fiona, Quincy, Evelyn, and Eloise.
JoAnn DeWaele will be remembered not only for her dedication to her family but also for her warm spirit and nurturing presence. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
