Johanna O. Sichau, who graced this world with her light, departed from us on September 29, 2025, at the age of ninety-eight. Born on August 16, 1927, Johanna lived through a century of change and evolution, not just witnessing history but embodying its spirit through her compassionate interactions and unwavering love for her family and friends.
A cherished daughter of Fritz and Olga, who have long since passed, Johanna's formative years were undoubtedly enriched by their guidance and wisdom. She also faced the loss of her beloved husband, Henry “Hank. Together, they carved out a legacy built on love, resilience, and cherished memories. Although Hank is no longer with us, his spirit undoubtedly remains entwined with hers.
Johanna is survived by her three devoted daughters: Susan (Steve) Harvey, Gale (Paul) Van de Roovaart, and Eileen (Dan) Palmieri. Each daughter carries forward a piece of Johanna's vibrant spirit, reflecting her kindness and strength in their own lives. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Mike, Paul, Amanda, Sara, Jack, Erica and the late Jacob—who each bear the imprint of her love and wisdom. The joy of Johanna’s life was magnified with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Lukey, Aiden, Caleb, Emily, Luke, Gemma and Nora.
Johanna was very athletic in her youth, and remained active throughout her life. Known for her role as a Secretary for over 40 years in the Chicagoland area. She remained deeply rooted in her German heritage, often welcoming German relatives into her home. Johanna had an abundance of friends, enjoyed family time and the outdoors. She enjoyed card games, dancing, travel, and adventure. She especially loved her jigsaw puzzles towards the end of her life.
She is remembered for her kind, sweet, fun-loving nature, and acceptance of others. She lived a full life, and will be missed.
