John De Monte

On May 30, 2026, John De Monte passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, nonno, and bisnonno whose love, strength, and guidance left a lasting impact on all who knew him. John was born on December 13, 1932, in Mola di Bari, Italy, to Giuseppe De Monte and Pasqua Diomede. At the age of 14, he began working on ships, which allowed him to travel to many parts of the world. At 18, he proudly served in the Italian Navy, developing the strong work ethic, discipline, and resilience that would define his life.

In his twenties, John immigrated to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities and a brighter future. On November 29, 1958, he married the love of his life, Bianca (nee Cairo). Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three sons: Joseph, Frank, and Anthony.

John's determination and perseverance not only helped establish a successful life for his own family but also paved the way for other family members to immigrate to the United States. He was known for his unwavering dedication, hard work, and commitment to providing for those he loved. In 1972, he founded his own painting business, which he proudly operated until his retirement in 1995.

In retirement, John and Bianca enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, where they formed many lasting friendships and created cherished memories. John lived life to the fullest and found joy in staying active. He enjoyed swimming, biking, fishing, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. Whether on the golf course, by the water, or gathered around a table sharing stories, he embraced every moment with enthusiasm and gratitude.

Beyond his accomplishments, John will be remembered as a master storyteller. He loved sharing memories of his life experiences, travels, and lessons learned, leaving his family with stories that will be cherished for generations. His wisdom, humor, and deep love for his family were the cornerstones of his legacy. John's life was a testament to courage, sacrifice, perseverance, and devotion. John was the beloved husband of Bianca (nee Cairo); loving father of Joseph, Frank (Anna), and Anthony; cherished Nonno of Bianca (Jacob) McLurkin, Graziella, and Giovanni De Monte; bisnonno of Alessia McLurkin, dear brother of Maria (Pellegrino) Caputo, the late Antonio (Anna), the late Vitantonio De Monte, and Crescenza (Francesco) Ungaro; dear brother-in-law of Rosemary De Monte; and fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. His warmth, wit, wisdom and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Although, John is no longer with us his memory will live on with us forever.
