Lawrence Wysocki, age 68, of Arlington Heights, passed away on November 12, 2025, leaving us far too soon. Larry dedicated his life to serving others with courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Larry proudly served as a firefighter and paramedic for 33 years with the Glenview Fire Department, where he was known for his steady presence, dependable skill, and heartfelt care for those in need. He rose through the ranks and served as Battalion Chief at the end of his career. His passion for emergency medicine led him to 15+ years with Flight for Life helicopter, where he continued his calling to help others in their most critical moments. Deeply respected by all who served alongside him, Larry’s infectious sense of humor (the kind only a firefighter would know) and warm personality made him beloved by colleagues and patients alike.
Larry’s remarkable character extended far beyond his career. Gentle-hearted and tender, he had a genuine way of connecting with everyone he met. He was selfless to his core — the kind of person who made others feel seen, valued, and cared for. His kindness was effortless, and his presence was comforting, uplifting, and truly unforgettable.
Through his recent health struggles, Larry fought with extraordinary courage. He fought not only for himself but also for his family, who he didn’t want to leave behind. He often said, “I have so much to lose,” but the truth is, we had even more to lose.
Above all, Larry’s greatest pride and joy was his family. Larry and his devoted wife, Cheryl, had just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary. Inseparable and truly made for each other, their love was the foundation of his life. He was especially proud of his only daughter, Lyndsey (Dan) Mulcahy, whose resilience and determination, and the woman she grew to be, made him prouder than words can say. His three beautiful grandchildren — Max (6), Kendall (4), and Cody (2) — brought him immeasurable joy. He cherished every moment he spent with them, giving them love, laughter, and cherished memories. They were his whole world, and he will be watching over them always.
Larry is also survived by his sister, Lori Eckroth, and her children: Kelly (Jim) Connelly, Bryan (Michelle) Eckroth, Kristyn (Tony) Drousias, John Eckroth; and by his sister-in-law, Nadine Pardieux.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Norbert and Florence Wysocki; and by his little brother, Kevin (Laureen) Wysocki, and is lovingly remembered by Kevin’s wife and children: Jocelyn (Niall) Prout, Cameryn Wysocki, and Daniel Wysocki.
Larry’s legacy of service, compassion, and genuine humanity will be forever remembered by the countless lives he touched and by the family who will always carry his heart with them.
