Lois Ruth Bergh

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lois Ruth Bergh, who passed away peacefully at the age of 84, surrounded by the love of her family.

Lois was born in Oak Park, Illinois, and grew up in Melrose Park, Illinois, before making her home in Medinah, Illinois, where she spent much of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, humor, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Verne Bergh, who passed away in 1992, as well as her parents, Violet C. Henselman and Frederick T. Henselman. Though they are no longer with us, their love and influence helped shape the woman Lois became and the family she cherished so deeply.

Lois is lovingly survived by her daughter, Terri Lynn Kovach (Mark Kovach); her brother, Ronald Henselman (Linda Henselman); her cherished grandchildren, Mark Kovach (Kristi Kovach), Stephanie Kovach, Kevin Kovach, Christina DeCicco-Galvan (Ernesto DeCicco-Galvan), and Steven Kovach; and her future great-granddaughter, who is expected to join the family in October 2026. Though she never had the chance to hold her in her arms, she will forever know the love, stories, and legacy she left behind. She will also be remembered by many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Throughout her career, Lois worked at the Millionaires club, then as a real estate agent and later dedicated many years to the Medinah Park District, where she enjoyed serving her community and creating lasting friendships.

Outside of work, Lois found her greatest happiness surrounded by the people she loved. She treasured summers spent at the family lake house, where fishing, laughter, and time together created memories that will be cherished for generations. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for making everyone smile. One of her most unforgettable traditions came whenever someone pulled out a camera. Instead of the usual “say cheese,” Lois would enthusiastically tell everyone to “Say shit!”—a phrase that never failed to bring genuine smiles and laughter to every photograph. It was a perfect reflection of her playful spirit and the joy she brought to every gathering.

Lois’s greatest accomplishment was the family she loved so deeply. She was a source of strength, comfort, and unconditional love, and she made every holiday, birthday, fishing trip, and family gathering a little brighter simply by being there.

Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing she left this world peacefully, surrounded by those who loved her most. Her legacy of love, laughter, resilience, and unforgettable memories will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.

Visitation at Salerno's Rosedale Chapel (450 W. Lake St., Roselle, IL) on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Thursday, July 30th, 2026, at 10:00 AM, also at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel. Procession to Arlington Cemetery (401 E. Lake Street, Elmhurst) will immediately follow the funeral service.
