Lorraine Marie Priebe, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 29, 2026.
Born and raised on Taylor Street in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood, Lorraine was a devoted mother, sister, family member, and friend. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Gilda; brother, Gerald; sister-in-law, Ginny; and her amazing family and friends.
A lifelong redhead, she never left the house without perfectly styled hair, manicured nails, and flawlessly applied makeup. As a talented makeup artist, she dedicated her career to making others look and feel beautiful.
She adored cats, loved shopping, collecting coffee mugs, and anything related to skin care. When she was not shopping or giving herself a facial, she was watching QVC, a favorite horror movie, or every possible Chicago Blackhawks game. Her favorite food was anything she could put in a sandwich, especially a juicy burger. She was feisty, loved to argue any point, and lived vicariously through Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City and Blanche from the Golden Girls.
She was an excellent cook like her mother. She loved hosting holidays, entertaining family and friends, and making memories through food. No one ever left her home hungry.
Italy held a special place in her heart and was her true happy place. She cherished its beauty, culture, food, way of life, and the memories made during her time there.
Above all else, her greatest joys were her family and her faith, which guided her life. She loved Jesus deeply and believed wholeheartedly in the power of prayer. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, beauty, and unforgettable memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in imagining her exactly as she would want to be remembered: beautiful heart, beautiful soul, impeccably dressed, red hair and perfect nails, purse in hand, and enjoying delicious food in the streets of Italy.
