Magdalena Villafuerte

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Magdalena Villafuerte, fondly known as Maggie, who departed this world peacefully at home, surrounded by her beloved family, on August 24, 2026. Born on November 24, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, Maggie was a beacon of love, joy, and compassion to everyone she met.

Maggie was the cherished daughter of the late David and Lafira (Segura) Flores. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mario Segura, her brother-in-law James Nechleba, and her precious granddaughter Jaclyn Marie Villafuerte. Her legacy, however, continues to thrive in the hearts of her devoted family. She leaves behind her loving husband of 48 years, Juan Villafuerte, with whom she shared a beautiful journey of love and partnership since their marriage on January 21, 1978. Together, they built a family that became the center of Maggie's world. She was the proud and devoted mother of Jose (Nicole), Maria (Jason), Veronica (Rigo), and David. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Marco, Joseph, and Christopher, who brought immense joy to her life. Maggie is also survived by her dear sisters, Debi Nechleba and Delores Sulzer (Ken), and many nieces and nephews who were her lifelong companions and confidantes. Her family was her pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them. For nearly two decades,

Maggie dedicated herself to the education and well-being of children, working for School District 54. Her nurturing spirit and dedication left an indelible mark on the countless students and colleagues she encountered. In her well-deserved retirement, Maggie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved dancing, singing, and reading, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Maggie's life on August 28, 2026, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, located at 450 W Lake Street, Roselle, IL 60172. The service will commence at 3:00 PM, where we will honor the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives.

Maggie will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
