Maria A. Mazariegos

Maria A. Mazariegos, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on January 17, 1932, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Maria was a beacon of love and resilience throughout her life.

In 1955, Maria embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to Chicago where she would eventually forge a distinguished career with Motorola. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to uplifting her community and advocating for children's health and well-being. A woman of deep compassion, Maria believed passionately in the importance of nurturing the next generation, a legacy that will endure through the lives she touched.

Maria’s vibrant spirit shone brightly in the simple joys of life. She had a profound love for reading and movies, moments of leisure that she cherished deeply. More than anything, Maria had a unique gift for bringing people together. Whether it was around the dinner table or at family gatherings, her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and treasured memories.

She is survived by her loving son, George Mazariegos; her devoted daughter, Martha Sikaras; and her cherished grandchildren, Bartolomé, Elena, and Mateo Mazariegos. Each of them carries forward her spirit and values, exemplifying the love she bestowed upon her family.

Maria is preceded in death by her cherished husband, Jorge Mazariegos, and her beloved mother, Maria Torres. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, a reminder of the enduring love that binds them.

Maria A. Mazariegos will be laid to rest at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Niles, Illinois, with burial services scheduled for August 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
