Maria Domenica Pedota, a cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Born on December 6, 1933, Maria lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family. Her warmth and strength touched the hearts of those around her, leaving an indelible mark that will be forever treasured.
As a proud member of the Maria SS Di Constantinopoli for over 50 years, Domenica demonstrated her unwavering faith and commitment to her community. Her hands, expertly skilled in weaving and sewing, were always busy creating beautiful pieces that not only adorned her home but were infused with love. Maria often found joy in cooking, delighting her family with scrumptious meals, and gathering around the dining table, where stories and memories were shared over delicious food.
Domenica was a spirited card player, enjoying competitive games filled with camaraderie and laughter, perfectly illustrating her zest for life. Yet, above all, she cherished her moments spent with family, each gathering a testament to the bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy (Claudio) Pontarelli, Nelly (Michael) Cozzone, and Frances (Jerome) O'Brien. Each daughter's heart carries cherished memories of their mother, who was their guiding light and eternal source of love. Domenica's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Danielle (Erik) Tatje, Antony Pontarelli, Jacqueline (Kyle) Arnold, Nicholas (Anna Tassi) Cozzone, and Lauren (Jamie Kuna) O'Brien; the joy she brought to their lives will never be forgotten. As proud great-grandmother to Luca, Nico, Sienna, Ariana, and Vincent, her spirit will also live on in the lives of her great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will remember her with fondness.
Domenica was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank and three brothers, who now reunite in eternal peace.
Family and friends are invited to honor Maria's life during visitation on February 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 551 N Rush St, Itasca, IL 60143.
In celebrating the life of Maria Domenica Pedota, we embrace the love she so freely gave and the lessons she imparted. Her memory will continue to inspire and brighten the lives of all who knew her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, both near and far.
