Marie A. Valentine, born on November 29, 1934, in the vibrant city of Chicago, has departed from our world and taken her eternal rest at Sunrise of Bloomingdale on February 28, 2026. Her life, filled with warmth and love, created a tapestry of cherished memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
A devoted wife to her late husband, Gerald Valentine, and a nurturing mother, Marie exemplified the very essence of what it means to be family. Her home was not only a sanctuary for her children but also a welcoming haven for neighbors and friends alike. Marie was renowned for her culinary prowess, particularly her mouthwatering Italian dishes. Her kitchen was a testament to her generosity; she would frequently prepare extra servings of her delicious meals for her neighbors and lovingly pack eggplant sandwiches for her children's friends, ensuring that no one ever left her home feeling hungry.
Marie’s vibrant personality shone brightly through her kindness, humor, and warm embrace. She was a beacon of light in her community, loved by everyone who had the privilege to encounter her. With a spirit that captivated those around her, Marie nurtured deep bonds with her family, always encouraging laughter and joy in the simplest moments of life.
In her youth, Marie was a spirited woman who embraced an active lifestyle filled with volleyball, softball, and bike rides with her girlfriends through the neighborhood streets. Her creativity flourished in her passion for sewing, as she stitched beautiful outfits for special occasions, ensuring that her children always looked their best during Easter, school events, and Halloween. Occasionally, she would turn her talented hands to create garments for herself, adding a touch of elegance and style to her own wardrobe.
The heart of the Valentine family will continue to beat strong in the presence of her beloved children: Gerald Livingston-Valentine (Scott), Peter Valentine (Vivian), Angelica Ahrens (Rich), Michael Valentine (Lisa), and John Valentine (Betsy). Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, who carry forth the warmth and love she exuded: Matthew Ahrens, Eric Ahrens, Peter Valentine, Taylor Larson, Jake Valentine, Gabrielle Valentine, Christopher Valentine, Derrick Valentine, Annmarie Ahrens, Spencer Livingston-Valentine, and Henry Livingston-Valentine. The light of her spirit is also reflected in her great-granddaughters, Isabelle Ahrens and Aria Ahrens, who are the embodiment of the love she spread throughout her life.
Marie is lovingly remembered by her brother Frank Spillone, whose spirit stands alongside the cherished memories of those who have passed: Francesco Spillone (father), Angelica Belfiore Spillone (mother), and her sisters Rose, Collette, Virginia, and Celeste, along with her brothers Louis, Anthony, August, and Vito. While they remain apart in the physical realm, the bonds of love they forged continue to inspire all who carry Marie's memory.
