Marjorie Swanson

Marjorie Ann Swanson (née Greenwald) passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for her family.

Born in South Milwaukee to Dale and Kathleen Greenwald, Marjorie devoted her life to helping others. She graduated in 1964 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree and a Physical Therapy Certificate, where she was a proud sister of Chi Omega sorority—the middle link of a triple legacy with her mother Kathleen and her daughter Kathleen (Katie).

On May 29, 1965, Marjorie married Timothy Swanson, whom she met on a blind date set up by dear college friends. Shortly after their marriage, Marge and Tim built a house in Huntley, Illinois, where they lived for over 20 years. In 1993, they built their beloved house overlooking Crystal Lake and enjoyed peaceful mornings and evenings looking out over the water. Marjorie resided there until her death.

Marjorie's career as a physical therapist spanned decades, during which she touched the lives of countless children with disabilities. Her work took her to Easter Seals, Early Childhood Education for District 47, and numerous private patients over the years. She remained devoted to her profession, continuing her education (even earning a certificate of completion for a course in late spring of 2024) and maintaining her PT license until just one year before her passing—a testament to her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Marjorie was a woman of many talents and boundless energy. She spent countless hours sewing costumes for the Judith Svalander School of Ballet and was the proudest spectator for her children's, and then later, her eight grandchildren's many activities, sports, and theatrical and ballet performances.

Marjorie was the beloved wife of the late Timothy. Devoted mother of Eric (Sherri) and Kathleen (Chad) Pendlay. Dear sister of Thomas (Honor), Robert (Nancy), Michael (Julaine), and the late John Greenwald. Adored Nana and Gma of Alexia, Evelyn, Marissa, Caroline, Sophia, Lillian, R.J., and Aedan. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Marjorie was a friend to all who met her and will be deeply missed by everyone.
