Mark P. Hartigan, age 58 of Oswego; Beloved husband of Margaret (Nee Ebinger); Devoted father of Bridgette, Dominic, Nichole, Meghan, Kyla and the late Mark Hartigan Jr.; Loving son of Michael and the late Therese Hartigan; Dear brother of Therese (Gregory) Wozniak, Michael (Aray), Matthew (Kathleen), Luke (Viki) and Sean Hartigan; Dear son in law of Don and Margaret Linnane and Joseph Ebinger; Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. A true Law Enforcement Professional, Mark began his career as an Auxiliary Officer with the Elmhurst Police Department. His childhood dream of becoming a Police Officer came true when he joined the Glendale Heights Police Department in 1982, retiring as a Patrol Sergeant after 26 years. Mark later became a member the Wayne Police Department, was the Chief of Internal Investigations for the Illinois Department of Revenue, ultimately becoming the Chief of Police for the Illinois Commerce Commission Police Department until 2015. Mark was an avid golfer, fisherman and all-around sports fan. He enjoyed bowling for over 30 years on the Visitation/IC Bowling League. Mark was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 52 and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police. He was the “go to” guy to his family, friends, neighbors and anyone who needed help. Loved by all. Funeral Thursday, 9:30 a.m. from Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels 450 W.
