Mary Ann L. Thomas, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. Born on November 25, 1932, Mary Ann lived a life marked by dedication, love, and commitment to her family and community.
Mary Ann began her professional journey with Illinois Bell Telephone, where she contributed her talents and skill. Taking a heartfelt pause to dedicate time to raising her children, she later brought her warmth and hardworking spirit to Jewel Foods and ultimately retired from Kmart. Her career demonstrated not only a strong work ethic but also a caring nature that touched those around her.
A member of a large family, Mary Ann was the youngest of ten siblings. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and nine brothers and sisters: Edward, Henry, James, Robert, Joseph, Ernest, Bernadette, Rita, and Julian. Though these close family members have passed before her, her memory lives abundantly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Mary Ann was the beloved wife of George S. Thomas, with whom she shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring bond. She was the loving mother of Debra (Andrew) Paul and George J. (Carol) Thomas, who stood by her side with unwavering love and respect. Her legacy continued through her cherished grandchildren: Alyssa (Robert) Schnorenberg, Stephanie (Glenn) Frazee, George M. (Merry) Thomas, and Nicole (Kyle) Struble. The joy of her life was also reflected in her great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob, Logan, Carolynne, Ayden, Lyla, and Madison, who will forever carry a piece of her spirit within them. In addition, Mary Ann is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends, all of whom were fortunate to have known her kindness and generosity.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Mary Ann’s life at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, located at 450 W Lake Street, Roselle, Illinois (60172). Visitation will be held on March 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral service at 12 Noon. This time will allow her loved ones to share memories, express their grief, and find comfort in the unity of their shared loss.
Mary Ann L. Thomas's life was one of love, resilience, and deep familial devotion. Her presence enriched the lives of everyone she touched, and though her passing leaves a profound void, her spirit and legacy will forever remain a guiding light for her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
