Mary Lou Scardino (née Parise) was born on September 20, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, and on July 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, she found peace in Elk Grove Village after bravely facing a long battle with complications from cancer. Her life’s journey, filled with deep love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she cherished, leaves an enduring impression on the hearts of all who knew her.

Mary Lou was the beloved wife of Wayne Scardino, Sr., and together they shared a partnership rooted in devotion and unwavering support. Their love served as a constant through life’s joys and challenges, shaping a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unity. She was a devoted mother to Wayne Scardino, Jr., Roxanne (Eddie) Lopez, and Michael Scardino, nurturing her children with compassion and wisdom that has become woven into the fabric of their lives.

Cherished as “Grammy” Mary Lou’s love for her grandchildren—Jaden, Eddie, and Mary—was a light in her life. She delighted in their achievements and adventures, celebrating each milestone and sharing in the everyday moments that made their childhoods magical. Her role as grandmother was one she embraced wholeheartedly, with gentle guidance, playful spirit, and boundless pride.

Mary Lou treasured the bonds of family deeply. She is survived by her brother James Parise, as well as brothers-in-law John and Sam, and sisters-in-law Roslyn and Marie Parise along with many nieces and nephews whose lives she enriched with her warmth and kindness. She was predeceased by her father Rocco, her mother Ida, her brother Robert, and by dear siblings-in-law James, Carol, and Janette Imperiale. Each relationship painted a chapter in the tapestry of Mary Lou’s life, filled with shared memories and steadfast support.

Family and friends are invited to remember and honor Mary Lou at her visitation on August 4, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W Lake St, Roselle, IL. The following morning, a prayer service will be held at 9:30 AM at the same location, followed by a Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Marcelline Church (St. Gregory of Nyssa Parish), 822 Springinsguth Rd, Schaumburg, IL. Interment will be private at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Palatine, Illinois.
