Norbert R Gajaski

Norbert Richard Gajaski, 99, of Northlake, Illinois, passed away on July 25, 2025. Born to Frank and Julia Gajaski, Norbert was a beloved figure to many and was affectionately known as “Uncle Norb” by his extended families—the Colberts, Ohlsons, and Stumpfolls. A proud and dedicated career military man, Norbert served in every branch of the United States military, beginning his service at the age of 17 in 1945. He retired with distinction as a Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army. Devoted to family, Norbert lovingly cared for his mother until her passing. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter, and camper, often spending a month at a time immersed in nature. His love for the outdoors was matched by his passion for sharing stories, especially his experiences during World War II, which he recounted with humility and wisdom. Norbert will be remembered for his kindness, gentle nature, and deep consideration for others. He leaves behind many who were touched by his warmth, humor, and strength of character.
