Patricia L. Richardson was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on October 23, 1950, to Hector Thomas and Cynthia Cummings. She was the second of two children. Her sister, Lorna Thomas, described her as quiet, shy, and soft-spoken in her youth. Yet beneath that gentle demeanor lay a quiet strength. As the years passed, Patricia decided she wanted a life filled with larger opportunities, so she migrated to New York City in 1969.

After taking a position at Citibank, her life changed forever. At a work function in 1975, she met Ronald Richardson, and they fell in love. Ronald and Patricia were married on April 9, 1977. A few years later, Ron and Pat moved to Bloomingdale, Illinois. Her nurturing nature shone brightly as she helped raise three young men in their household: Marvin Richardson, Sean Richardson, and Ronald Richardson Jr. In September of 1980, Pat gave birth to her son, Kevin Richardson, and in March of 1983, she welcomed her daughter, Karen Marie Richardson. With a bustling household, Pat’s quiet strength became the anchor of the family as a multitude of memories were made and so much life was lived.

Pat worked in data entry at Market Day for many years. At home, she lovingly prepared many of the company's offered meals alongside her own delicious, traditional Jamaican dishes, including curry chicken, oxtail with butter beans, and festival. She also made sure her family grew up knowing and loving the sounds of reggae music.

Pat was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Wheaton, Illinois, and loved the Lord deeply. She faithfully read her Daily Bread devotionals and ensured her children came to know the Lord as well.

After retiring, Ron and Pat traveled the world together, visiting Punta Cana, Greece, France, London, Italy, and Scotland. Through the years, they took endless road trips, attended celebrations (where Pat’s signature elegance and class always turned heads), and relaxed in the park. As her health began to decline, she faced her final days with that same familiar, quiet strength and signature grace. The Lord saw that she was tired, wrapped her in His love, and brought her peacefully into His eternal rest.

Patricia’s beautiful legacy of love, elegance, and faith lives on through those who survive her: her devoted husband, Ronald Richardson; her beloved sister, Lorna Thomas; her sister-in-law, Bertha Smith; her loving children, Kevin, Marvin, Sean, Ronnie, Karen Marie, and stepdaughter Gigi. She is also the adored matriarch to a large and growing family, leaving behind a multitude of deeply loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her mother Cynthia Cummings and Grandmother Edith Cummings, Stepfather Owen Ashwood, her mother-in-law, Iantha Richardson; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Manzella and James Kornegay; her cousin, Ellen Samuel; and her precious granddaughter, Alexis Richardson, with whom she is now joyfully reunited in the presence of the Lord.
