Paul T. Sands Jr., a man whose life was defined by devotion, integrity, and a deep love for family, passed away on April 29, 2026. Born on April 5, 1943, Paul lived a life marked by achievements, kindness, and a spirit that touched all who knew him. Those who had the privilege of knowing Paul will remember a man who was not only dedicated in his career but also exceptional in his roles as husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.
Paul's professional journey was distinguished by a steadfast commitment to the Title Insurance field. He dedicated his entire career to this industry, contributing his expertise and leadership to both Chicago Title Insurance and Stewart Title. Throughout his career, he embraced various significant roles, including General Counsel and Director of National Title Services. His dedication and ethical approach earned him respect and admiration across the industry. Paul also used his professional skills during his many years of service on the homeowner's association board.
Education was a cornerstone of Paul's life. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, followed by a Law Degree (Juris Doctorate) from The University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Demonstrating his passion for continuous growth, he later attained an Executive Master’s Degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. These scholarly accomplishments underscore his intellectual curiosity and commitment to excellence.
A man of varied interests and rich personality, Paul was known for his great sense of humor and generosity. He was an avid reader who found joy in literature, a man who loved tending his yard, and a frequent traveler. One of his most treasured vacations was his family's annual trip to Northern Minnesota. Above all, he treasured attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events and found immense joy in being present for their milestones. Paul was also a religious person who lived by his principles and embodied loyalty to his friends and family. Paul had a special taste for good beer and enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Paul's family meant the world to him and stood at the center of his life. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Mary Ann (Annie) Sands. Together they shared a life filled with love and mutual respect. Paul was a wonderful father to his children, Andrea Kuchler (Phil) and Nicole McNeeley (Jack). Above all, Paul’s pride and joy were his five grandchildren: Natalie, Noah, and Sarah Kuchler, and Paul and Nathan McNeeley. His generosity extended to them in countless ways, and his influence will be forever cherished in their hearts.
He also leaves behind his siblings Judy Ball, Robert Sands (Janet), and James Sands (Patty), along with his brother-in-law Ronald Kutsch and sister-in-law Nancy Schueller. While their hearts grieve, they celebrate a brother and family man whose legacy of integrity and kindness will endure.
