Peter Sardina of Elgin, IL passed away on May 16, 2026. He was born on July 29, 1939, to Santo and Maebelle Sardina. He was a devoted husband to Donna and a loving father to their children, Susan Sardina (Brett Whiting), Anthony (Martel) Sardina, David (Lisa) Sardina, Teri (John) Nosek, John (Aurelia) Sardina, and Robert Sardina. He was the cherished brother of Homer Sardina and Paula Gonsalves, uncle of Dale Reeves, great uncle of Rachel (Kieran) Cowden, and brother-in-law of Kathleen Hayden (Mike Panning). Peter was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren: Maria Sardina, Luke (Natalie Paraschiv) Nosek, Matt (Jasmine) Sardina, Linnea Sardina, Griffin Nosek, Logan Sardina, Ryan Miller, Mason Sardina, Tyler Miller, and Rosa Sardina, and one great-grandchild, Jayden. Peter was a beloved cousin, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother, Santo Sardina, his son, Michael Sardina, and his nephew, Duane Reeves.
Peter was a Navy Veteran, proudly serving on USS Navarro. He was active 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and served with other organizations, such as the Special Olympics, and the YMCA Indian Guides/Princess programs, over the years. He enjoyed archery, bowling, and golfing. After retiring from his original career with the phone company, he had his own phone installation business for many years and spent his final working years on the golf course at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago, IL. He loved traveling, spending time with his family, and supporting his favorite charities.
