Pietro “Pete” Verbena, age 79, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, in Wood Dale, Illinois. Pete was born on January 2, 1947, in Adelfia (Bari), Italy, a place that always remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, mentor, and friend whose presence brought warmth and joy to everyone around him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Verbena, along with his daughters and son, his cherished grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, a niece and nephew & his son in law.
Pete was the proud owner of Verbena Plastering, where he built a respected business and became known as a true master of plastering and molding. He took great pride in his work and in creating something lasting with his hands. His dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic earned him the admiration of many who knew him both professionally and personally.
Beyond his work, Pete was full of life. He loved music and could often be found singing and dancing, bringing energy, laughter, and joy wherever he went. His laugh was unforgettable, and his presence had a way of lighting up any room. Being around Pete meant feeling welcomed, uplifted, and loved.
Pete had a generous heart and was always ready to help others. Whether offering advice, guiding someone through life, or helping family and friends with their projects, he was someone people naturally turned to. He was a mentor to many and a steady source of wisdom, encouragement, and support.
Above all, Pete will be remembered for the love he gave so freely. He was the kind of man who showed up for the people he cared about, who shared his knowledge, his laughter, and his heart without hesitation. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for.
Though he is no longer with us, Pete’s spirit lives on in the countless memories he created, the wisdom he shared, and the love he gave to everyone around him. His laughter, his music, and the light he brought into every room will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
