Priscilla J. Olenick
January 2, 1942 – February 19, 2026
Priscilla J. Olenick, lovingly known as "Cill" and "Sal," was born on January 2, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in Chicago until the late 1950s, when her family moved to the suburb of Villa Park. Priscilla eventually spent the heart of her life raising her family in Schaumburg, Illinois. On February 19, 2026, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, she was called home to the Lord, to be reunited with her beloved husband, Gordon J. Olenick, and the many family members who went before her.
A Life of Adaptability and Creativity
Priscilla was a pioneer in her field. After completing her schooling for data processing, she began her career in the early 1960s, applying her specialized skills at Jewel Foods Corporate for many years. As technology evolved, so did she; she thrived in the early days of remote work following the birth of her youngest daughter. Throughout her work life, her diligence and commitment were evident across various computer-based and customer service roles.
Beyond her work life, Priscilla was defined by her deep faith, her unwavering devotion to her family, and a lifelong, tender love for her many dogs, who were her constant and cherished companions. She was a self-taught Photoshop artist who found joy in repairing old photographs, creating digital graphics, and designing personalized cards for those she loved. Though inherently private, she was a "good soul" who used social media to stay fiercely connected to her friends and family.
Family Legacy
Priscilla was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon J. Olenick; her loving parents, Robert Palmer Sr. and Viola Palmer (nee Basile); her cherished daughter, Anita Mazzocchi (nee Olenick); her loving brother, Robert Palmer; and her dear sister, Patricia Comella (nee Palmer), and Patricia’s husband, Lou. She is also preceded in death by many cherished relatives, including her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws who passed before her.
She leaves behind a loving family that includes her daughters, Carole Moberg and Laura Kangas (Matthew); granddaughters, Angel (Zack), Gianna, Kegan, Brittany, Lauren (Stefan), and Matty; and a few great-grandchildren. She is further remembered by her sisters-in-law, Darlene and Janet; her niece, Kimberly; her nephews, Bobby, Stacey, and Scott; her cousins, Helen and Trudy; and her lifelong friend, Carole, and her long time neighbor Chady.
