Reynold "Rey" Deles

In Loving Memory of Reynold Deles 

Reynold Deles, lovingly known as Nonoy to his family, passed away peacefully on July 17th, 2026 at the age of 68 surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Though cancer ultimately claimed his life, it never diminished his spirit, his sense of humor, or the deep love he had for the people around him. 

Born in Iloilo City, Philippines, Rey carried with him the values of hard work, perseverance, and devotion to family throughout his life. He immigrated to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities, building a life through determination, resilience, and sacrifice. After graduating from Rolling Meadows High School, he enjoyed a successful career in computer programming, where his intelligence, problem-solving abilities, and strong work ethic earned the respect of his colleagues. He took great pride in providing for his family and creating a life filled with opportunity and love. 

Rey was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. He was kind, thoughtful, and endlessly funny. He had a way of filling every room with laughter, whether it was through a perfectly timed joke, or playful teasing. His humor was contagious, and the joy he brought to others will never be forgotten. 

He found happiness in life's simple pleasures. A Pepsi, a collection of coins and memorabilia, watching NASCAR, spending time at the bowling alley, or sitting around a table playing Mahjong with family and friends were some of his favorite ways to spend the day. He also had a special place in his heart for his cats, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness throughout his life. 

More than anything, Rey will be remembered for his generous heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or simply be there when someone needed him. His family and friends knew they could count on him without hesitation. He loved deeply, gave freely, and made those around him feel valued and cared for. 

Rey is reunited in heaven with his beloved father, Salvador Jover Deles. He also leaves behind a family who adored him and countless friends whose lives were made brighter because they knew him. He is lovingly survived by his mother, Norma Ferraris Cordero Deles; his siblings, Norman Deles (Tim Lyons), Claudette Johnson (Bruce Johnson), Mary Deles (Art Fruchtenbaum), Helen Otakan (Ted Otakan), and Stella Clark; nieces and nephews, Heather Johnson, Tara Cometa (Randy Cometa), Christopher Johnson, Chelsea Otakan (David Newman), Melissa Johnson (Steven Cocat), Brittany Otakan, Hunter Otakan, Austin Clark, and Ashley Clark; great nieces and great nephews, Mateo Cometa, Ryann Cometa, Penny Otakan, Max Otakan and Hudson Johnson-Cocat; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. 

A visitation will be held on July 30th from 8:30am-10:30am at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels in Roselle, followed by mass at 11am at St. Matthew’s Church in Glendale Heights and a reception at 12pm at Magnolia’s Events in Bartlett. 

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, family, and friends who supported Rey and his family during this difficult time with such compassion and kindness.
