Richard G. Molokie, born on June 14, 1932, in the United States, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 93. He leaves behind a legacy of professional accomplishments, familial devotion, and personal passions that shaped his fulfilling life.
He is proceeded in death by his father Edward Molokie (Helen); sister Patricia Clark (Edward), uncle Monsenior John Karpinski, wife Dorothy Shuflitowski Molokie (1995); Loretta McNerney-Molokie (2024).
Richard is survived by his brother Thomas J Molokie (Mary Ellen); son Fr. Jerome Matthew Molokie O.Praem, son Joseph E. Molokie (Molly) and daughter Elizabeth Harrison-Schirmer (Dan), grandchildren Jessica Sahagun (Chris); Zachary Molokie (Quinn); Rachel Schmidt (Stephen). Dorothy Harrison and Jacklyn Harrison. Great Grandfather to Eloise Schmidt and seven stepchildren Katherine Goodman (Robert), Joseph (Mary), James (Nancy), Patrick (Kelly), Mary Griffin (Brian), Maureen Floss (Christopher) and Michael as well as 35 great-grand children.
He pursued further education at Harvard Business School and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Notre Dame, institutions that played a significant role in shaping his professional path.
He had a distinguished career as an executive vice president of Connell & Company, where his leadership and dedication earned him great respect within the industry.
A proud veteran, Richard served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1956. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Telfair, participating in the humanitarian operation known as "Passage to Freedom," during which he aided Vietnamese refugees in their escape from Haiphong to Saigon, French Indochina. His military service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and compassion for those in need.
Characterized by his devout Catholic faith, Richard was a regular attendee of daily Mass at St. Patrick's Church in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he often spent time in prayer, including saying the daily rosary. His faith was not only a cornerstone of his life but also a source of support and encouragement for his family.
Richard's personality was marked by an unwavering commitment to his children's activities, whether it was cheering them on at their choral performances, school plays, or swim meets. He actively engaged with his children, ensuring he was present for milestones and achievements, thus demonstrating a profound love and support that will be remembered fondly.
In addition to his professional and familial contributions, Richard was a proud alumnus of Notre Dame, actively participating in alumni events and supporting various charitable organizations over the years. His willingness to give back to the community was a testament to his caring nature.
Richard G. Molokie will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for his boundless love for his family, his unwavering faith, and his genuine friendships. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind a profound legacy.
Services will be held at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels in Roselle, Illinois, on November 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
