Richard Hansen, 78, passed away on March 26, 2025, in Elmhurst, Illinois. Born on September 4, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. Rich lived a life filled with devotion to family, deep friendships, and cherished pastimes.
Rich was a dedicated family man who cared deeply for those closest to him. He provided unwavering support to his mother, wife, and daughter throughout their lives. Becoming a grandparent was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he adored his grandchildren above all else. His love extended beyond immediate family to lifelong friendships that spanned decades.
Rich’s most cherished memories were the moments spent camping and boating with loved ones. He enjoyed meals with the Campers Club and conversations around the campfire. Photography was another passion that allowed him to capture and preserve the beauty of the people around him.
Rich was proud to be from Chicago Avenue, and enjoyed sharing stories from the “old neighborhood”. Until recently, he still enjoyed breakfast outings and annual get togethers with these lifelong friends.
Rich is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Hansen; his daughter, Colette Hansen; son-in-law, Jesse McGrath; and grandchildren Eleanor McGrath, Avery McGrath, and Jake McGrath. He is also remembered fondly by the Hamilton family as part of his extended family. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Henry Hansen.
A visitation will be held on March 28, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapel, 450 W Lake Street, Roselle, Illinois. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. Interment will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery, 7800 W Irving Park Road, Norridge, Illinois, at 1:30 PM.
Rich’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy of love and friendship bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
