Salvatore P. Varacalli

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Salvatore P. Varacalli, known affectionately as Sal, on May 21, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 28, 1935, in Italy, Sal carried with him the warmth of his Italian heritage throughout his life.

Sal's journey brought him to Chicago, where he became a beloved member of the local community. He was a longtime member of Molisani nel Mondo, a testament to his commitment to celebrating and preserving Italian culture. Sal's passion for soccer and gardening reflected his vibrant spirit and love for life, allowing him to enjoy not only the thrill of the game but also the tranquility found in nurturing plants.

An enthusiastic bocce player, Sal found joy and camaraderie on the courts, always sharing a laugh and a kind word with friends and fellow competitors. He cherished the hours spent with loved ones and fellow club members, demonstrating that the bonds formed through shared interests created lasting memories.

Sal's legacy is marked by the love and respect earned from all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His zest for life, coupled with his strong sense of community, will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege to call him a friend.

As we reflect on Sal's remarkable life, we celebrate the kindness he showed to others and the joy he spread through his passions. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence.
