In Loving Memory of Shirley (Babe) Campbell

February 25, 1936 – October 25, 2026

Shirley Campbell, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Nana, and Nana-Nana, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family during her final hours on earth. She was 90 years old.

Shirley was the heart and matriarch of her family, a woman whose love knew no bounds and whose greatest joy was found in the people she loved most. She devoted her life to her family, always putting them first and creating a legacy of love, togetherness, and traditions that will live on for generations.

Shirley was married to the love of her life, James “Jim” Campbell, for nearly 50 years. After 26 years apart, we find comfort in imagining Jim waiting to greet his beloved Babe at the gates of Heaven, where they are finally reunited once again.

She was a devoted mother to Brian (and the late Denise) Campbell, Brenda (Dan) Martino, and Cathy (John) Luciana, and a cherished grandmother to Brian (Valerie), Jimmy (Krissy), Scotty (Jackie), Campbell. Shari, Tommy, Danny (Brittany), Martino. Jenna (Rob) Spejcher, and Johnny Luciana. Her love extended to her 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. To them, she was more than a great-grandma she was Nana; she was a source of comfort, wonder, and unconditional love.

Shirley had a remarkable gift for making a house feel like home and for making every family gathering feel special. Her kitchen was the heart of countless unforgettable holiday meals, and her generosity was evident in the gifts she lovingly gave for every holiday, big or small. She understood that it was never just about the presents or the food, but about the memories made and the family gathered together.

For her grandchildren, some of the most treasured memories were made in the basement, where childhood was filled with laughter, cousins, and the simple joys that become the stories we tell for a lifetime. Her Christmas village and beautiful holiday decorations brought magic to the season, while her beloved Easter egg scavenger hunts created traditions that will forever be a part of the family’s story.

Shirley showed her love not only through what she created at home, but through the way she showed up. She was there for her grandchildren’s events, celebrations, and milestones, making each of them feel important and loved. She was beautiful inside and out, and her presence brought a special warmth wherever she went.

Her great-grandchildren shared a particularly special bond with her. They were mesmerized by the sound of her voice as she read stories and sang to them, moments that will remain etched in their hearts. There was a gentleness about Shirley that seemed to reach beyond people; babies and animals were naturally drawn to her kind and loving spirit.

Shirley’s greatest legacy was not found in things, but in the family she nurtured, the love she gave so freely, and the traditions she built with such care.

A family’s matriarch may leave this earth, but the love she planted in every generation never dies.

Shirley will be missed beyond words, loved beyond measure, and remembered forever. Until we meet again, Nana. ❤️
