Van Thi Le passed away on Nov 8, 2025, at the age of 83. At the time of passing, Van was surrounded by her husband (Khai Nguyen), all her children (Hung Nguyen, Hoang Nguyen, Minh Dung Nguyen, Minh Xuyen Nguyen, Chau Bui, Binh Nguyen, and Long Nguyen), and many of her beloved grandchildren.

Van had a great passion for soccer. She found joy in feeding wild animals in the backyard and often used her delicious cooking to bring her kids together on weekends when she was healthy. When her husband left Vietnam and became a refugee abroad, she showed remarkable resilience - raising six children alone, without a job, and eventually becoming a street vendor to provide for her children. Despite living under the constant fear that the communist government might seize her home because her husband escaped the country by stealing a government boat, she managed to keep her family together and safe.

Van will be remembered for the values she instilled in her children: resilience, caring, generosity, and kindness.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday Nov 12th , from 6PM to 9PM at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle, IL 60172. A cremation service will be held on Friday, November 14th at the same location.
