Craig Short, age 74 of Northlake; beloved husband of 46 years to Janice; devoted father of Emily (Ed) Sokasits and Stephanie (Darrick) Chen; loving Papa of Natalie, Frank, George and Josephine.

Craig grew up on Laramie in Chicago. He was an only child who found joy with the best neighborhood buddies or his dog. He graduated from Austin High School in 1968 and joined the “Up With People” singing group. He began his career with the post office.

Craig met Janice at a wedding celebration. With a short engagement and wonderful wedding, the happy couple purchased their family home. Together they were blessed with two daughters, who were raised with traditional family values, humor and love.

Craig “Popcorn” Short was an award-winning Medinah Shrine Clown, a noted member of the Midwest Clown association and inducted into the Clown Hall of Fame in 1998. He enjoyed sharing his love of clowning with the local Girl Scouts and the Triton Trouper Circus.

Craig had pride in always being able to deliver by the mail, the punchline or the set up. Loved by family and so many friends, we will miss you and take comfort knowing that you are reunited with those who have gone before you.
In lieu of flowers donations to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave, Chicago, 60707 appreciated.

I am tearing up as I write. Craig and I spent many early mornings unloading the trucks and sorting the mail while listening to the radio. Saturday mornings were special because 'Dr. Demento' came on and made us laugh for a couple of hours. Every once in awhile the 'Popcorn' song would come on and he'd smile. He had a great smile. Craig was a dear friend during those years. I could b*tch and moan and he would actually listen and give me advice. For a long time, he was my best friend. After retirement, something got misconstrued, and we went our separate ways. But, I always thought of him and his wonderful family that he was so EXTREMELY proud of. He loved his wife; Jan, so much. It hurt to hear she had passed during Covid. I thought, I bet this just about killed him. They did everything together. And now, they are together once again. Only this time, it's for eternity. I'm going to miss you Craig. You were such a big part of my life for so many years. May God bless you and keep you, my friend! Just for old times same " bulbous boiffant. Golashes. Shindig" May you rest in peace... Jim
