Doug May, age 64, of Hanover Park, IL, passed away peacefully at home May 22, 2023.
He was born September 18, 1958, in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Rex and Beverly May. Doug is survived by his loving wife of 21 years,
Donna (nee Brown) and his cherished daughter, Christina May. He was the adored
brother of Linda Baumgart (John) and dear uncle of Stephanie and Alexandra. Doug
graduated from Deerfield High School in Deerfield, IL, in 1976, where he enjoyed
playing trumpet in many bands, shows and parades. Then, he enlisted in the U.S. Army
and served 3 years stationed at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina, where he continued to play
his trumpet in the army band. Following that he worked as the receiving manager at
Venture. Later, he made his career as a letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office in West
Chicago, IL. He retired in 2014 after 25 years. A few years later, Doug was diagnosed
with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare neurological disorder that affects
body movement, walking, balance and eye movement. This disease progressed quickly
over the next five years, and Doug was taken from us way too soon.
