Geraldine “Geri” Anne McKenna died suddenly in her sleep on July 7th, 2021 at the age of 73 years old. Geri was born on April 6th, 1948 to parents Gerald McKenna and Marie McKenna (nee Callum). She is predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Marie, and loving aunts and uncles, and dear cousin Sean Callum of whom she had a special connection. Geri is survived by her loving daughter Jennifer Carroll (Thomas), her only grandson, Alexander, her loving cousins, Kay Callum, Jack Callum (Nancy), Tom Callum (Mary Ann), and MJ Diehl (Richard) and her sister Susan McKenna.
Geri was born in Knox, Indiana and remained there until her family moved to Chicago. She attended and graduated from St. Gregory the Great High School. She had many fond memories of Knox, IN and visited her old friends there over the years. Geri did love living in Chicago because it meant living by/with her cousins, whom she cherished so much. In her later years, she loved driving though the old neighborhoods recanting and reliving the stories of those good times.
Geri was a hard worker from day one at any job she did. A knack for numbers accounting is where she spent most of her work years or “bookkeeping” as she called it. No one who worked with her did not know her kindness and likely depended on her for her willingness to help. She instilled that same work ethic in her daughter. She often said if you are going to do something, no matter how menial, you might as well do it right. She was not only a co-worker, but she was a friend.
Friends from the past, present, work and family all knew Geri as a loving person who went extra lengths so see people happy. She would show up for people when they needed a friend or a laugh, or an extra hand to wrangle the grandkids (Gloria). She always made the effort to know favorite colors, animals, Disney characters, etc. and showed up with lovely random gifts for all. This was her way of letting people know how much they meant to her and how much she thought of them.
Her smile will be missed by all.

Services will be held on Friday, July 23rd, 2021 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels
Located at 450 W. Lake Street Roselle IL, 60172

Geri and I were in the 1966 graduating class from St. Gregory HS in Chicago. I haven't seen her in all these years, but remember her vividly! She LOVED Knox, Indiana and let every one know it. I can't remember what the connection was. She was funny , fun-loving and a wonderful friend. I am so sorry for this loss.

I will miss my accounting " work-wife" ! Geri was always my go-to when I had massive wearable orders and jewelry orders & credits to decipher. She definitely had an open door policy - you could pop down any time to see and she would make the language of accounting very easy to understand. She was a wonderful friend and I will miss seeing her face at the office. God Bless, Geri.

What a wonderful, sweet and caring lady! I had the privilege of working with Geri and we tackled many supplier statements together! She kept me on my toes and never hesitated to send a reminder email to get the answers she needed. Loved working with her and so glad our life paths crossed.

I worked with Geri for over 2 years at Summit, and we remained friends afterwards. She was such an amazing person, and I am so grateful she was a part of my life. Behind her tough, witty exterior was a loving and gentle soul. She was so thoughtful, and I will be forever appreciative that she took the time to keep in touch. What an amazing lady and friend.

Gerri was such an awesome co worker and friend. I will not be attending as I now live in North Dakota, but this world has lost a special person- and I wanted to let the family know that I mourn with you.
