John “Andy” Maeer, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 16, 2025, at the age of 63. Born in Leeds, England on February 21, 1962, Andy’s journey led him to become a cherished member of the Roselle community, where he was known not only for his unwavering dedication to his family but also for his remarkable sense of humor and profound love for God.
Andy is survived by his devoted wife, Heather Maeer (nee Prader), and their children, Jamie and John. He was a loving brother to Barbara Janice (Darryl) Hurmi, Kathryn (the late Rusty) Kimball, and Susan Maeer. His family also includes a host of cherished nephews and nieces: Craig (Nadia) Hurmi, Sara (Mike) Baum, Christopher Nyczaj, and Jonathan (Erin) Nyczaj, as well as great nieces and nephews Abby, Zoe, Jacob, Evie, Elijah, Ethan, and Jonathan Jace.
In addition to his immediate family, Andy is remembered fondly by his extended family, including Aunt Thelma, Cousin Steve, the Ritchie family, the Prader family, the Carstens family, and a multitude of in-laws, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Preceding him in death were his parents, John Askham Maeer and Dorothy (nee Duffield), and his cousin, Lewis (Barbara) Maeer.
For over 42 years, Andy dedicated himself to his career with unwavering commitment, marking him as an exemplary provider for his family. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he will be remembered for the joy and laughter he brought to their lives. A true man of faith, Andy valued the importance of spending time with loved ones, forging strong relationships that will endure beyond his passing.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Andy’s life. Visitation will be held on May 28, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, located at 450 W Lake St, Roselle, IL 60172. A Mass in his honor will take place on May 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Walter Catholic Church, 130 W Pine Ave, Roselle, IL 60172, followed by an inurnment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery at 1S150 Winfield Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189.
As we remember Andy’s vibrant spirit, let us hold close the treasured memories and the light he brought into our lives. He will forever remain in our hearts.
