Visitation Time: Services are Private
Interment: All Saints Cemetery

John Catalano, age 92, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. Beloved husband of Ann Marie. Loving father of Ninfa, Fran, and Anthony. Devoted son of the late George and Ninfa Catalano. Loving brother to seven sisters and one brother. Dear Grandfather of 10 grandchildren; Jennifer, Frank, Felicia, Salvatore, Kyle, Connor, Keagan, Anthony, Zachary and Gianna and 9 great grandchildren; Dylan, Cody, Mia, Jax, Mason, Antonio, Salvo, Maxen and Aralyn. He was also a Great Uncle of many and friend to all. John had a tremendous love and dedication to his family. He was born in Caccamo, Sicily and immigrated to the United States in 1954. John lived in Chicago when he first moved to America where he started the American Dream. He then moved to Schaumburg in 1976 and resided in the home that he and Ann Marie built. Moreover, this home is where he spent the remainder of his life raising his family. John’s profession was a barber and had a business for over 60 years and his gifted, steady hands lasted him until he was almost 90 years old. John was a member of the Beato Giovanni Liccio Di Caccamo Club. He had many interests in his life including the love of cars and Chicago White Sox baseball. However, his greatest love was with his family and his happiest times were the moments spent with them. He was proud of his Italian heritage and adored his wife’s Italian cuisine. John was a genuine man with a kind heart and touched the lives of many. As he aged, he did it with dignity and strength. He overcame many obstacles throughout his life and had a determination to fight and survive. He taught us what it means to be a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In keeping with compliance with the current CDC and IDPH recommendations regarding gatherings, the funeral service will remain private. A Memorial Service and mass to celebrate his Life will be announced at a later date. Entombment will be at All Saints Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Des Plaines, IL.
