Melania Krywaruczenko (nee Swinenko) passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at the age of 97. She was the loving and caring wife of the late Fedor, beloved mother of Peter (Lydia) and Nick (Marie) Krywaruczenko; loving daughter of the late (Philip and Pasha Swinenko); dear sister of the late Peter (Swinenko); cherished grandmother (“Baba”) of Tanya (Todd Galer), Erik, Kristina (Eric Stiens), Nikolas J. (Sai), Mark, Daniel, and Katelyn; beloved great grandmother of Peter and Matthew Galer, Holly Krywaruczenko, Abigail Galer, Melanie and Caleb Stiens, and Clayton Krywaruczenko; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; adored friend by many.

Melania was a very religious woman and believed God was her strength and foundation. She came to the United States in 1950, and she never stopped working alongside her husband to build a better life for her family. She cherished being here in this country and believed in hard work to achieve dreams. She attended services at St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Bloomingdale. She loved her time being a member of the group of volunteers who made pierogis to help the church.

Melania could be found in her yard tending to her incredibly beautiful and bountiful garden (with gorgeous flowers and magnificent fruits and vegetables), or in her kitchen making countless meals and desserts, like cherry cheesecake and her 5-layered jello. She was always the gracious and perfect hostess and made anyone who entered her home feel immediately welcomed. Melania enjoyed crocheting and sewing and made crocheted blankets that adorn her family’s furniture. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and loved to tell stories. She loved to read the Bible, and she always remembered others in prayer.

Melania was adored and blessed. She will be missed tremendously.
