Michael G. Grod, age 70, died in his home Friday, April 16, 2021 of unknown causes.
Mike’s loving wife Diane (nee Podraza) preceded him in passing. Mike is survived by two sisters Diane (nee Grod) Pennacchio and Susan (nee Grod) Westphal and a niece Gina (nee Pennacchio) & Michael Crance, two grandnephews Matthew and Nicholas Crance, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mike was an Army veteran from December 1967 to December 1973. For his service, he earned the National Defense Service Metal; Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnam Campaign Metal: Army Commendation Metal and Good Conduct Metal. He served honorably in the 25th Admin Company 25th Infantry Division of the US Army.
Mike was very proud of his service in Vietnam. He was seldom seen without an official Army/Vietnam cap on his head. He loved all of his cats and dogs and had at least one to four in his life at a time as he grieved others lost. Mike had a keen sense of humor and was quite intelligent and witty. He loved his music, especially Bob Marley and Eric Clapton.
Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels at 450 W Lake Street in Roselle, Illinois will host a celebration of Mike’s life Saturday June 12, 2021 at Noon with a military service at 1:30pm.
