Thomas M. Trendel
October 31, 1951 – May 9, 2025
Thomas was a beloved father, brother, uncle, great-uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend to many. He passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025. Born on October 31, 1951, he was the cherished son who was preceded in death by his father, Albert, and mother, Dolores Trendel.
Tom was a devoted brother to the late Linda (Trendel) Fuscone, Carol (Kent) Deener, Susan (Paul) Grauer, Judith (Louis) Verhoog, Claudia (Don) Schwind, Christine (Tom) Palmer, and Colette (Wayne) Simak.
He was a loving father to Tina (Michael) Hanley and Vicki Short, widow of Thomas Short. He was also a proud and caring grandfather to Joseph, Jeremy, Janelle, Michael, Anthony, Frank, Matthew, Jonathon, Thomas, Kyle, and Taylor, as well as a great-grandfather to eight. Tom was a fond uncle and great-uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Tom spent much of his life bartending at places like Easy Street Pub and Nordic Hills. He was a proud owner of AA Swiftprint. Horse racing, however, was his greatest passion—as both an avid fan, owner of many horses and a frequent winner. Weekends at Arlington, Churchill, Saratoga, Keeneland and Hollywood Parks became cherished traditions for all who joined him.
One of the proudest moments in Tom’s racing journey came when Sovereignty, ridden by jockey Junior Alvarado, married to Kelly (Short) Alvarado, won the 151st Kentucky Derby—a true highlight of his racing years.
As a father figure to many, Tom loved his girls deeply, and they will forever treasure the memories they shared with him. His joyful smile and warm spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest peacefully, Tom. Your suffering has ended, and your spirit now watches over us all.
