Funeral 1/14/21 at Salerno’s Rosedale with interment at Mt. Carmel (Queen of Heaven). A native of Chicago’s Taylor Street neighborhood, Chickie Stella was a singer and an entertainer loved by many. He started singing in the 50s with a Doo-wop group called the Taylor Brothers, and later found success with musical groups The Chicago Fire and The Neighborhood. Always his first passion, his singing career was set aside so he could be close to home and raise a family. He became a small business owner in the restaurant/bar industry with businesses such as Chickie’s in the Circle, Baciami Café, Rossini’s Great Italian, and the well-known Café Lucci in Glenview.
Chickie leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Jo Ellen (Tomasetti), two children, Gina (Kevin) and Joseph (Patti), six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His laugh and smile were infectious, and his spirit would light up a room.
