Funeral 1/14/21 at Salerno’s Rosedale with interment at Mt. Carmel (Queen of Heaven). A native of Chicago’s Taylor Street neighborhood, Chickie Stella was a singer and an entertainer loved by many. He started singing in the 50s with a Doo-wop group called the Taylor Brothers, and later found success with musical groups The Chicago Fire and The Neighborhood. Always his first passion, his singing career was set aside so he could be close to home and raise a family. He became a small business owner in the restaurant/bar industry with businesses such as Chickie’s in the Circle, Baciami Café, Rossini’s Great Italian, and the well-known Café Lucci in Glenview.
Chickie leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Jo Ellen (Tomasetti), two children, Gina (Kevin) and Joseph (Patti), six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His laugh and smile were infectious, and his spirit would light up a room.

Mrs Stella, Gina & Joe I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Chickie. I have such fond memories of him growing up next door to your family, I always enjoyed hearing him sing or listening to his music while watering the plants or lounging in the yard. He was always smiling, happy and full of joy. Praying you all find comfort and peace in the memories and lives he touched. Love to all. Mike and Debbie(Milio) DeMaira

I can go back over 60 years to memories we shared in our teenage years. I'll remember you with smiles and fondness. You had a beautiful family and I'm sure you'll be " singing" and smiling down on all of them from heaven above. RIP my friend.

To the Stella family. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Chickie in UCLA when he had his heart transplant and he still had alot of wires in him. We had alot of laughs on that day and since. Chickie was a fighter. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. He was a great person and he will be missed.
