Berry, you were such a delight to all who knew you. I had the great fortune to come to know through your husband Tom when we were working together. Whenever you entered the room you brought your energy and wonderful wit with you. I am sure that God is rejoicing to have you come home to Heaven. Please know the pleasure of so many in just having the opportunity to be able to spend time with both you and Tom. Vince Scott

Berry became a part of my life from the moment I met her – when I hired her to work at Lord & Taylor. She was a natural; even Women’s Wear Daily took note of her enthusiasm and talent. But for me Berry was so much more than my best salesperson. I came to Chicago not knowing anyone and she wrapped me in her arms with love and affection. There was always a place at the family table for me at holiday dinners – plus a huge bowl of ice cream after. Her laughter, joie de vivre and impeccable taste remain vivid in my memory. But above all, I remember her love for her family whom she always spoke of with such pride. I hope their special memories offer some comfort at this difficult time. Berry I see you with Tom, a true gentleman, smiling and stylish as always. Love, Joyce

My deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Cummings, on my behalf and, as 990’s Board President, on behalf of her neighbors and fellow owners. I was lucky to know Berry and be in her company many times, when she shared loving memories about her life and children. Everyone brightened up when she entered a room, and we will miss her beauty and grace. My prayers for the repose of her soul. Memory eternal. Rhonda Rhodes

My deepest condolences Lydia and the rest of your family. May our Great Lord hold each of you in his caring arms and provide you with comfort and strength. Mrs. Cummings was a very special person, who deeply loved her family. She loved sharing her time with people and was loved by so many. She will be greatly missed by all. I was priviledged to have spent many days of fun, lively and interesting conversations with her. We shared many laughs, We talked about one day traveling together because we knew we would have so much fun together. Mrs. Cummings. I have missed you in the past year and will miss you forever. I will see you again and know that we will be filled with joy whe we are reunited. I look forward to that huge embrace. Love you forever, Angela Valentine
