Apo Asiong made our move to the Philippines when we were kids memorable. We would always visit him in the blue house in Lacpao, Lubao where he would cook the most delicious food for us and we would all gather around inside the Bahay Kubo in their place as we ate together, laughed together, and enjoyed each other’s company as a family. If I can recall, I believe that Apo Asiong introduced to me my love for Chicharron. Ohh, how I wish I got to thank him for that & share a piece or two of crunchy chicharron dipped in spicy vinegar with him one more time. But when Apo Asiong had to move to Chicago, the Cruz family back in the Philippines was never the same again without him. To me, Apo was like the life of the party back home. He would be the one hosting our family reunions and weekly get togethers. We would even visit him on a school night just to hang out. It was only recently when I revisited the blue house again years later, how empty the house was without him and his warm presence. Apo Asiong, thank you for the love & happiness you bestowed upon us. I will miss seeing you silently sit on the corner while you try to keep up with all the chatter in the room. I will miss our silent exchanges while everyone else is busy doing their own thing & how we would just laugh it off. I will miss your laugh, your smile, and your warm hugs. Thank you for being such a wonderful human being to everyone who has crossed your path. Be sure to give our love to Apo Roger & Lola Ellen up there in Heaven. I love you, Apo Asiong. Til we meet again. Love, Selene Cruz

No sympathy is deep enough, no words are caring enough to take away your sorrow. Just know he is resting in peace with God.
