Eric, we grew up together and played together. You were always highly competitive and had a very tough spirited way about you, and yet charming way about you as well. You were charming to your group of friends. You also liked to challenge your friends both present and in the past. You also had a wicked sense of humor. Your smile was endearing and one of the best features about you. An honorable tough survival type of man, but most importantly a human being thru and thru. Thru thick and thin in what life threw at you, you kept your head up high and fought thru many changes over time. You retained that hard edged competitive spirit. Thank you for bestowing upon us your life experiences, friendship, and aura upon us and those you chosen to have in your life. Cheers Brother. May Light Perpetual upon you.

To the family and loved ones of Eric, my sincere condolences and prayers. To my friend Eric, I am honored to have taught and learned martial arts with you for the past 25 years. We pushed each other to be the best we could be. Thank you for inspiring me to learn BJJ. When I was ordained in the United Methodist Church, I was always able to count on you to keep it real. I will miss being, doing, and saying totally inappropriate things with you and being able to pick up the phone and carry on like we had just seen each other. I know you’re rocking it in a better place right now and going on about how you’re still a marine. Until we meet again, “You so hockit!”

Eric was was an incredible person inside and out. He was a mentor in martial arts for our family. Eric was one of the very first students of master Kim in America. He trained with master Kim for close to 20 years. He was more than a student for Master Kim, he was family, they had incredible mutual respect for each other. My family had the privilege and honor to train with him and learn from him. Such a simple and humble man, always there for anyone. So many fun times and memories over the last 15 years. The MMA fights, cultural dinners, bar fights, getting completely hammered ( he carried me out of places many times; literally on his back). One of the most fun people to hang out with. Our prayers for his family.
