Loving daughter of Eduardo and Gertrudes Romero. Loving mother of Angelica, Christina, and Marco Lomibao. Loving sister to Edgar, Sam, Cesar, and John Romero. And loving lola to Aleia. Gloria was a selfless mother who devoted her life to her three children and to God. She spent much of her time in prayer, praying the rosary daily and attending mass. She read her Bible every night before bed, and participated in a prayer group. Gloria was a dedicated nurse who last worked at Hines VA hospital. Her coworkers would describe her as “the Oprah of Hines” because of how well known she was throughout the hospital. Everybody knew her to be kind, friendly, lively, and funny. Her coworkers say they ran into her most going in or out of the chapel. She spent downtime in the office teaching her colleagues how to dance. Gloria spent a majority of her time with her children and her mother. Gloria was her mother’s favorite daughter. She liked to take her mom out to eat at Kinta, and spent time with her daughters. She loved to shop and go out to eat with her family on the weekends. She facetimed and texted her son Marco every day because he was in the navy. She taught her children how to pray and sent them all to a catholic grade school. Every Sunday she would attend mass with her family. She spent every holiday, birthday, and weekend with her children/family. Gloria loved to play the guitar and piano. For fun, she would dance Zumba almost daily. She enjoyed singing karaoke and reading books, her favorite being The Five People You Meet In Heaven, introduced to her by her son. She also loved her daughter’s cat, Fränz, whom she loved to play hide and seek and tag with. He kept her company every day when he daughter was at work. She loved to make people laugh. Gloria was lighthearted. She was strong in faith no matter the circumstances of her life and kept a smile on her face all the time. She was a mother not only to her three children, but to everyone. She treated family and strangers with kindness. She made every day count, living each day as if it were her last. Gloria left happy, proud, faithful, and unquestioning.

I was so Blessed to be surrounded by Gloria's presence everyday and got to see what a wonderful, caring, hard working Nurse and woman she was. It was a joy to see her bright smile and her thankful heart. Gloria will leave a huge hole in all of our lives. The office at Hines won't be the same without her! She always talked about her family she loved dearly! I will miss her dearly and wanted to extend my sympathies to her family.

I am still in shock about the sudden transition of my beloved co-worker Gloria. I can say not a day went by that she didn't give thanks to God for her life, the 3 beautiful children and family she was blessed to inspire, nurture, and love. She talked about her faith, children and family all of the time. She never had a negative word to say about anyone or any circumstance. Gloria only exhibited a positive spirit that touched you and inspired you to be more like her. If as a co-worker I'm grieving, I can only imagine the pain that you must feel with the loss of such a beautiful light from God. Gloria's light may be gone from this earth but it will ALWAYS shine in our hearts. Thank You, may God bless you.

I have worked with Gloria in HBPC before I transferred to the Travel Nurse Team 3 years ago. Gloria always have a positive energy, always have something good to talk about, and her smile just always enlightens the whole room instantly. She is one of the nicest person I have ever met. She always talks about her kids and how she is very proud of them. When I came back to Illinois last Nov 2020, she was one of the first person I contacted. As usual, she is always full of positive thoughts and energy, and is always very helpful. She will be missed, we pray for her and her family.
