John A. Silberbauer Sr., age 95, of Elgin, passed away August 28, 2024 surrounded by his Loving Family.
John was born in Dedham, Iowa to John and Mary (Wenzl) on November 28, 1928. John grew up in this farming community along with his two sisters and his Mom. John’s dad was killed in a farming accident when John was only four months old. He attended St. Joseph grade school 8 years. He was never able to attend High School as there was no way for John to get there. He was farmed out to work and lived on the farm of a local farmer and friend of the famiy after grade school. John was later drafted into the Army and spent two years in Korea, as well as training in Japan. He returned home with his GED and after a short time he decided to go to Chicago and live with his aunt and uncle. He took every course that DeVry University offered in order to start his career in the Communications field. John did extremely well and eventually became the owner of Radco Communications located in Addison first and later in his self designed building in Glendale Heights, Illinois. John was a wonderful husband to two very lucky ladies, a great dad, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend. He was the most unselfish person that you could ever meet, always giving to others and never thinking about himself. You will not find a person that didn’t like and respect John, both in business and in his personal life. He will be missed beyond words. John is survived by his present wife of 19 years, Gail Anne (Lynn). Children: John A. Silberbauer Jr, Carrie C. Bell (Lorne), Derek J. Silberbauer. Step children: Ronald R. Plinske (LeAnn) and Robert M. Plinske (Sandra). Grandchildren: Ryan, Brittney, Reid (Caitlin), Rachael, John Matthew, Allison, Christopher, Nathan, Olivia, and Michael.
