I am Joe’s neighbor here in Neptune. I moved in about 6 months ago. In that time we had hung out a number of times, and he was so great with my kids. Very sad to hear of this and I send my prayers and condolences to his family. I am deeply sorry for your loss of a great man.

To the Sausen family, I am so sorry for your loss. This is has been incredibly sad for the crew back at Jumping Brook Country Club. I would like to extend our deepest regrets to the Sausen family. I would like to just share that I teamed up with Joe Saturday 10/12 and we had had a great match. It was the first time that I played with Joe and we exchanged numbers and we looked forward to playing again. It was a competitive game and we had a fun day and we were all happy. God bless, you are all in our prayers. Kind regards John deCastro

Joe, You couldn't make me a better golfer, but I feel I am better person for having met you. I will think of you often especially when I'm out one of the local places we used to hang out at. You were a great co-worker but a better friend. I will miss you always but secure in the knowledge that everyone you met or touched some way in life you made their life better as well. You were just that guy that made world a better place. I'm heart broken you are gone, but I'm so grateful for having met you. It always made happy to see you smile, so I give you the salute I would give you after a Viking victory, for one final time, Skol Sausen!

Hearing the news was nothing short of heartbreaking. Joe was the first friend I made when working at MSDSonline with him in Chicago. I was lucky enough for that friendship to continue to grow as the years passed. Since his move out East, Joe always found time to meet for dinner whenever I was traveling out his way on business. He will be incredibly missed by those lucky enough to have considered him a friend.

From working at MSDSonline, to keeping in-touch despite being 1,000 miles away, you always made me crack a smile. You’re missed by many. Keeping cheering for the purple for all of us.
