Otto James Wilkinson, 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019; beloved husband of the late Carol Peters; devoted father of Diana (James) Napier, Jean Delaney, James (Anna) Wilkinson and Dorothy (Stuart) Landgren; dear brother of the late Lillian (Charles) Edwards and Joseph (Dorothy) Wilkinson; cherished grandfather of 12, great grandfather of 17 and great great grandfather of 2. Otto was born August 12, 1925 to Lillian (Mangano) and Harry Wilkinson in Chicago, Illinois. Otto proudly served in the US Navy from June 1943 to March 1946 on the USS Missouri (BB-63). He witnessed the formal signing of the Japanese Forces surrender to the Allied Forces on September 2, 1945. Otto and Carol lived in Cicero, Illinois for over 30 years and retired to New Lisbon, Wisconsin. Otto was a member of Post 110, American Legion, New Lisbon. Recently, Otto was a resident of Sunrise Senior Living of Schaumburg, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to: Post 110 New Lisbon American Legion, 110 Welch Prairie Rd, New Lisbon, WI 53950.

Mr. Wilkinson..I only met you a few times. You were the patriarch of an amazing family. Your service to this country during World War II and your legacy as the last surviving service member of the U.S.S. You are with your Mom, Dad and beloved wife, along with so many others now. I know they will be so glad to see you again, but we will miss you so much Uncle Otto. Rest in peace till we meet again. Love always Harry Wilkinson
