Rodney C. Lee March 7, 1944 – June 2, 2021

Rodney C. Lee, age 77, of Bloomingdale, IL went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer. He was born March 7, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Alfred and Lucille Lee. After graduating from Elmwood Park high school, Rodney then graduated from North Park University in Chicago, IL and went on to work as an educator for Chicago Public Schools for 35 years. He also worked part-time for Plastron in accounting for 16 years.
Rodney was a compassionate, kindhearted, and generous man who brought laughter with his jokes to everyone around him. He enjoyed time with family at the lake, friends at the yacht club, boating and held an incredibly passionate place in his heart for his Norwegian heritage while being a member of the Norwegian Torske Klub and traveling to Norway three times during his life. He was a wonderful loving husband, father and grandfather that showed an adoring dedication to his family.
Rodney is survived by his beloved wife Janet (Engel) Lee of 47 years, his two children, Brian (Stefanie) Lee, and Kristy (Dan) Kijinski and two beautiful granddaughters Delaynie and Adeleine who meant the world to him.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Covenant Church of Schaumburg in Schaumburg, IL or Millard Covenant Church of Elkhorn, WI.

Jan and family I was saddened to learn my Norwegian warrior has ended his battle. The memories of times around your dinner table and mine will forever remain in my heart. I know he has said hello to the Lord with due respect and is now enjoying a beer with his friend Larry. My love to you, keep your chin up, it is better to see heaven that way.

To Janet and the Lee family, We are deeply sadden to learn of Rod’s passing. What a wonderful person and how fortunate we all were to have known him. We will always remember Rod as a friendly standup guy with a great sense of humor. His smile lit up the room even when he was being serious. He fought the good fight and we will miss him very much. May God bless Janet and your family. Mike and Arlene Kelly

Rod and I were high school friends, class of 62. We walked the mile plus to school every day with 2 other friends during our entire junior and senior years. It wasn't until many months after I 1st met Rod that I found out that his original family name was the same as ours, Lien. But as we learned there was no relation. We lost contact after high school but fortunately reunited years later and my wife Jean and I enjoyed many fun times with Jan and Rod. The last 5 or 6 years I met frequently with Rod and 2 other high school friends for lunch, until the pandemic. Rod was always a great conversationalist and kept our lunchs going for 2 hours plus. We will remember Rod for his friendship, his easy going personality, his deep love for Jan and his family, along with his faithfulness to God and his country.

Dear friend we will miss you here at Lauderdale Lakes. Your smiling face will be missed at our Yacht Club parties and our Friday night gatherings for the traditional “Fish Fry”. We will miss your laughter and your Norwegian jokes. You have gone to be with the Lord, but you will long be remembered in our hearts.

Dad, Life will be hard and different with out you here by my side. You were always there for me no matter what. My world is turned upside down right now trying to process everything but I have to somehow accept it was your time. I am happy you no longer have to go through the tough fight you went through all these years. You never gave up even in the end. You were so determined to live. I love and miss you so much....until we meet again. Please look over us my loving dad ❤️

Rodney was my cousin, whom I have looked up to throughout my life. It was with great sadness that Margret and I received the message that Rodney had passed away. We will miss him a lot. He had the same mood and laughter as his father, who came from Norway. Rodney was always concerned with his Norwegian origins. We really appreciated the visit of Rod & Jan here in Norway, and the hospitality that was shown to us when we visited the family in the USA. Now a cornerstone is gone, but we will never forget. The thoughts go to Jan, Brian and Kristy and their families. You need strength to get through a difficult time. Rodney will always be in our memories, we are grateful for the time we had with him.
