Virginia Lopez, 62, of Pingree Grove passed away on Friday December 4, 2020. She was born on February 20, 1958 in Guadalajara, Mexico. She is the daughter of Guillermo and Concepcion Lopez-Gomez.

At the age of one, Virginia and her family moved to Chicago, IL. Virginia came from a very large family and was the fifth of ten children. Virginia was very special to her family, since the beginning, her parents knew that her birth was a miracle of God and that divine intervention had occurred. Thereby, they named her Virginia after the Virgin Blessed Mother. Her parents later nicknamed her “Biken” as she was their beacon of light and hope. She was a cherished daughter and sister that brought joy to her parents and family.

Biken always wished and waited for her prince charming to come, however, God had a different plan for her as she never married nor had children of her own. Instead, she was surrounded by wonderful nephews and nieces that she gladly embraced as her own. She found so much joy and fulfillment helping care for them that she felt she had found her purpose in life.

After Biken’s parent’s passing she decided to move in with her sister Lupe and husband Heriberto to help them with their three children, Adam, Jenny and Cindy. Biken felt a great sense of belonging and decided to make that her permanent home because of the unconditional love and care they extended to her throughout the many years she lived with them.

Most of her life, Biken suffered from long and painful illnesses. There were many instances when it was believed that miracles were manifested through her in the form of healing. As time went on it started to become clear that the only way Biken could handle such pain and suffering was because the grace of God was upon her.

Biken’s beauty was in her character and kindness. She was innocent, sweet and pure in heart and would always light up a room with her smile. She took joy with the simplest things in life and never complained about anything or asked for much. Biken was placed here on earth to show us courage, give us strength and show us pure love, just like Jesus taught us . She will be greatly missed and eternally loved by her family. It is very rare to be in the presence of an Angel, but all that knew her were very blessed to have Biken in their lives and will miss her greatly.

Anyone who made a kind gesture towards Biken made her very happy and it was not only greatly appreciated by her but by the whole family. Thank you to all who were a part of her life and brought her kindness and joy.

She is survived by her five beloved brothers: Antonio Lopez, William Lopez, Jesse Lopez, Robert Lopez and Peter Lopez; and her three loving sisters: Margarita Barbosa, Guadalupe Castellanos, Mary Nagel; as well as many other nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Guillermo and Concepcion Lopez; her sister Emilia Rosa.
