William Andrew Jennings, age 68, of Hanover Park IL, was born December 31, 1955 in
Bellflower, CA to David Frank and Marilyn Joy Jennings. He passed away July 6, 2024 at his
home.
Bill grew up working with his dad at Fettes, Love and Sieben Plumbing, in Chicago; and from a
young age, he knew he wanted to be a plumber and a firefighter. He graduated from Lakeview
High School in 1974, where he was an All City Athlete running track.
In the fall, Bill entered college at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where he studied
Construction. His junior year he joined the rugby team, where he met Debra Lynn Dugger at a
meet. They married the following year and were married 25 years. Bill graduated from SIU-C
with his Associates Degree in Construction Technology and his Bachelor of Science in
Construction Development. He was hired by a prominent construction company in Chicago,
Lexington Development, where he oversaw the construction of new homes in various northwest
suburbs.
Bill joined the Long Grove Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. When the construction
industry was hit with a major recession in the early ‘80s, Bill saw that as his chance to make a
big career move. He became a firefighter and paramedic with the Palatine Fire Department, until
his retirement 30 years later. It was through a good friend and fellow fireman that Bill met
Constance Ann Rotizza, and they were married in 2004.
Truly enjoying the life of a fireman, it was a huge part of Bill’s life and identity. As a plumbing
contractor, he established and worked his own company for more than 2 decades called P.L.B.
Plumbing, named after his three young children … Pammie, Lizzie and Beau.
Bill loved all sports, especially the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. In his youth he
played football, basketball, tennis, softball, cross country, and track, in addition to college rugby.
He took tremendous joy in coaching his children in softball, baseball and basketball, and
attended many dance recitals!
Beloved husband for 20 years of Constance Jennings for 20 years; loving father of Pamela
Nagy (Nicholas), Beau Jennings, Lizbeth Bedow (Scott); step-father to Shannon O’Dell (Daniel),
and Shaun Rotizza (Dmitry Starikovsky); cherished Grandpa of Andrew Nagy, Jolene Jennings,
Scarlett Bedow, Kacey Jennings, Jonathan Nagy, Christopher Nagy, Lucas Bedow, and Aria
Bedow; dear brother of Robert Jennings (Cheryl), Ellen Eggers (Ron), and Audrey Volkmann
(Rick); fond uncle of Adam Jennings, David Jennings, Kimberly Volkmann, Kristoffer Jennings,
Simon Annoreno, and Evelynn Vasquez.
As a devoted husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, Bill will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 11 at Salerno’s Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake Street, Roselle,
IL 60172. Visitation from 3:00 – 7:30, service at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association are appreciated.

Connie and family, I offer my deepest condolence for the passing of Bill. I consider him a good friend and a very skilled firefighter/paramedic. He was someone who could always be counted upon. I especially appreciated the unwavering support he gave to me as I assumed the Fire Chief position. He will be missed. He is someone you all can be very proud of. Norm Malcolm Fire Chief Retired.
