Angelo Colaianni was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world at the age of 77 on August 2, 2023 after a long battle with polycystic kidney disease.

Born to Alfredo and Mina Colaianni on July 26, 1946 in L’Aquila, Italy. He leaves behind a son, Jeffrey (Alexandra); granddaughters Evelyn, Anne; adopted grandsons Joey, Jaime; sisters Anna (Adolf), Ada (Randy), Aimee, Aurelia; and many nieces and nephews.

Angelo immigrated from Italy to the United States as a teenager with his mother and four younger sisters. He was the long time owner of Spanky’s Pizza and Pub in McCook, Illinois before retiring to Arizona. He loved to bowl and was a dedicated member of the USBC leading over 200 bowlers each year to the national tournament. Angelo enjoyed nothing more than spending time with those he loved, especially his grandchildren. The family will always remember his great smile, huge spirit, and making homemade Italian dinners together. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8pm on Sunday, August 6th at Salerno’s Chapel in Roselle, IL. Mass is scheduled at 10:45am on Monday, August 7th at St. Isidore Parish in Bloomingdale, IL.

In remembrance of Angelo’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the American Kidney Fund to continue fighting the good fight.

A man with so much warmth who wished to view the world in a positive sense. He was the poster boy for plain ol' common sense. Very observant, loving and giving. Anyone who knew Angelo knows this. You live on in my memories, and I will think of you often. You taught me much, and I will have to remember past conversations. You were the absolute best, brother, and I look forward to continuing our conversations when I get up to heaven. Your life was a gift to us all. And God is certainly in control! Much love, Chef! Pat
