Anne Paylaga Torreon, 74, of Glendale Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2019 at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

She was born in the Philippines in the town of Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, on October 9, 1944, daughter of the late Francisco Paylaga and the late Candelaria Tacan and the wife of the late Anito Torreon. She is survived by her two sons, the oldest son is Anthony Torreon, his wife Elsa, their children Adam and Gabriella and her youngest son Andrew Torreon, wife Jill and their children Jaden and Mason. She is also survived by her five siblings – Job, Nena, Rufa, Nelia and Francisco Jr, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.

During Ann’s early years she was a bright, social, intellectual child. She attended Panaon Elementary School where she graduated Valedictorian and then attended St. John High School and graduated Salutatorian. Her high honors led her to attend Cebu Institute of Technology in Cebu, Philippines completing her undergraduate degree of Bachelors of Sciences in Chemical Engineering in 1965. This same year she passed the Board of Licensure.

Ann’s professional career began being employed with the Social Security System, while working she met and married her husband Anito Torreon and later gave birth to her eldest son Anthony in Manila. In 1974, Anito, Ann and Anthony said goodbye to their loved ones to begin a new life in the USA.

Anito, Ann and Anthony started their roots in Chicago, Illinois. Ann started a new position in CNA Insurance Company and Anito began his new position in Exchange Bank (aka LaSalle Bank now Bank of America). In 1978, Andrew was born. They lived in Chicago till 1981 and moved to the Western Suburbs where their life became busier with many friends, events and participating in AMWAY and Excel Telecommunications.

Ann lived a very social life as member of several Filipino Community Organizations such as NorMinda (Northern Mindanao) Association, FAACS (Filipino American Association of Carol Stream), Couples for Christ and Handmaids for Christ. She was also devoted and active in her Church – St. Isidore where she proudly served as Deacon.

Ann retired from CNA in the mid 1990’s to care for Anito, dying of cancer. She was at his bedside till his death in 1996. The last 23 years Ann learned how to drive which increased her social life, she traveled domestic and international with family and friends. She loved life, loved people and most of all loved Christ.

To celebrate Ann’s life, please join us on Thursday July 25, Viewing will be held from 3-9pm at Salerno Rosedale Chapel & Funeral Home, 450 W Lake St, Roselle, IL 60172 and on Friday July 26, 9:30am Mass will be held at St. Isidore Parish, 427 West Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL 60108.
