Art was born on May 16, 1936 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He died of cancer at 81 years old on January 8, 2018 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Villiage, Illinois. He was surrounded by his children.

Art lived the last 60+ years in the Chicago area, most recently in Bloomingdale, Illinois. He worked at R.R. Donnelley as a roll tender for many years and enjoyed a long and active retirement.

Art was an avid Chicago sports fan! Donning the most colorful jersey, he would always be cheering the loudest in the stands or at his neighborhood sports bar. Having the Cubs win the World Series in his lifetime (and flying the “W”) brought him great joy! He loved dancing, riding his bike and feeding the ducks. He also enjoyed his trips to Florida to soak up the sun. Some of his favorite memories were camping with his family in Eagle River, Wisconsin and in the mountains of Colorado.

Art was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Ray and Sophie Cepek. Growing up, he was a boy scout and an accomplished trumpet player. He graduated from Aquanis High School in 1954, married Eleanore Stylen and moved to the Windy City.

Art is survived by his three children, Jeff Cepek, Karyn Cepek (Jeff Evenson) and Gretchen Cepek (Wade Kram), their mother, Eleanore Suranne, eight grandchildren, Ellen (Ryan) Gunderson, Megan Cepek, Randy Cepek, Jack Evenson, Sarah Evenson, Christian Kram, Avalene Kram and Claire-Marie Kram, two great grandchildren, Ethan Gunderson and Carter Gunderson, his three siblings, Ken (Barb) Cepek, Jeanette Harp and Dave (Alice) Cepek, and his nieces and nephews. Art is also survived by his friend, Joyce Chase. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Sophie Cepek.

A private service for family will be held in Minnesota.
