Diane Mulkerin, or Dee as she was more commonly known, was a loving wife and mother, devoted daughter and, based on stories told, mostly loving sister. Dee passed away the morning of June 26, 2023 after visiting with her husband of 58 years, John. Dee was the daughter of the late Jack and Eva Deutch and sister of the late Stanley Parson, and Myron Deutch. Dee and John married on September 5, 1964 and had two children: David (Kim) Mulkerin and the late Kelly Mulkerin and a grandson, Jacob Mulkerin. Family was everything to Dee, which included her duties as loving aunt of Thomas (Ruth) Mulkerin Jr., James (Kristin) Mulkerin, Katie Mahoney, Molly (Mike) Carney, John (Alex Moorman) Mahoney, Michael (Ina) Parson, Mitchell (Casey) Parson, Charles Deutch, Harry (Annie) Deutch, Ben Deutch and Rob (Sarah) Deutch. She was also a great aunt of too many to list here.

Dee and John lived in Glendale Heights IL where they have been parishioners for over 50 years at St. Matthew Catholic Church where she found many life-long friendships. Dee’s faith was important to her and her desire to give back had her constantly volunteering both herself and John at the church and St. Matthew Parish School. Dee belonged to the Parish Council, Worship Commission, Traditional Choir, RCIA, Outreach, Marriage Encounter and the new church Vision Committee and she hosted Bible studies at her home and was also a lunch mom at the school which brought no end of unfounded consternation to her children.

Dee was a voracious reader, you would never find her without a book close at hand. She loved her friends and family, and even through hardships of losing her parents, aunts, uncles, a sibling and her beautiful daughter Kelly in 2016, she never wavered in her faith, love and support for other people. She could always be counted on for words of wisdom or kindness, good conversation and an open door. She will always be remembered as someone who loved with all of her heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Marklund Home at www.marklund.org in her memory.

Dear John & Family, I just learned that Dee has passed away. I am so very sorry for your loss. We grew up together on the west side of Chicago in the same apartment building. I knew Jack & Eva & Myron well. May Dee's memory be for blessings and may she rest in peace. Sincerely, Marcy

John, Dave, Kim & Jacob. I have no words that will make this difficult time any easier. I was so blessed to know Dee and even more blessed that she loved me. Seeing her weekly at mass with that beautiful smile and warm hugs is something I will never forget. Take comfort in knowing she is at peace now. You have yet another angel watching over you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Sending BIG hugs and LOTS of love.

Dee was my adopted mom that I feel helped guide growing up as I felt I practically was there all the time. I can’t find the right words to express the loss I am feeling … Thank you for welcoming me into your loving family. May you rest in peace and may god watch over your family and friends during this grieving process … I love you more than you know.
